{"id":942,"date":"2010-10-14T10:31:59","date_gmt":"2010-10-14T18:31:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/existingresources.wordpress.com\/?p=942"},"modified":"2012-05-21T19:56:25","modified_gmt":"2012-05-21T19:56:25","slug":"seattle-passive-house-a-breath-of-fresh-air","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/existingresources.com\/?p=942","title":{"rendered":"Seattle Passive House &#8211; A breath of fresh air&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/existingresources.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/10\/seattle-ph-more-concrete-and-landscaping.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-949\" title=\"Seattle PH - More concrete and landscaping\" src=\"http:\/\/existingresources.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/10\/seattle-ph-more-concrete-and-landscaping.jpg?w=225\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Now that I am back from my West Coast Passive House tour <span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.smallplanetworkshop.com\/\">(read about it on The Small Planet Workshop blog)<\/a><\/strong><\/span> I am catching up with local projects.\u00a0 I visited Dan&#8217;s project and saw that some more concrete has been poured, landscaping started, and work continues on the inside.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/existingresources.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/10\/seattle-ph-recouperator.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-946 alignright\" title=\"Seattle PH Recouperator\" src=\"http:\/\/existingresources.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/10\/seattle-ph-recouperator.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>The Ultimate Air Recouperator has been set in place only to find the place has changed.\u00a0 In the original configuration there was not going to be a door through the mechanical room into the workshop.\u00a0 Site changes allowed that penetration in the PHPP which is a very nice feature&#8230; if the door will clear the mechanical equipment when it is installed in its intended location.\u00a0 Fortunately Dan has one of those magical contractor shoehorns &#8211; the kind that let you fit something big in a very small space.\u00a0 He has figured out a new arrangement and it will all soon be in place.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/existingresources.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/10\/seattle-ph-landscaping.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-950\" title=\"Seattle PH - Landscaping\" src=\"http:\/\/existingresources.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/10\/seattle-ph-landscaping.jpg?w=225\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>The plan now is to work outside while the weather is good (it&#8217;s turned cool and crisp here &#8211; my favorite time of year!) and work on the apartment area when the weather is not so good.\u00a0 It&#8217;s coming along very nicely.<\/p>\n<p>In all of Dan&#8217;s spare time (when he is not wasting those 4 hours and 23 minutes a day sleeping!) he is also preparing to speak at the <span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecobuilding.org\/green-building\/guild-symposium\">Eco Building Guild 13th Annual Green Design &amp; Construction Symposium Oct 22-24th<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, and at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.formwerksstudios.com\/phius\/TramEntry.swf\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">North American Passive House convention in Portland Nov 5-7th<\/span><\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 If you have a chance to attend either of these events it will be well worth it.<\/p>\n<p>Dan replied in the comments about yet ANOTHER event he is speaking at and I wanted to add it to the main page so no one would miss it:\u00a0 &#8220;There\u2019s even another presentation on the nearby horizon: the Central  Puget Sound chapter of the NW Ecobuilding Guild\u2019s October 27th education  event. 7PM at the Phinney Neighborhood Center, free for Guild members,  $5 donation for everyone else. That one\u2019s all about this house. I  promise \u2013 no THERM tutorials.
